THE REPUBLIC IN TWENTY WORDS
The Republic of Plato is comprised of ten books. And it is a long manuscript of approximately 330 pages and 120,000 words (depending on the translation). Apart from being a philosophical masterpiece, it is also an important debate about many important aspects of our lives. What is justice? What’s right or wrong? What is the best form of government in the ideal city-state? Why should the artists be banned from the city? Plato debates many more subjects in his dialogue.
I have summarized the most important subjects of the dialogue into just twenty words. These are the subjects that each individual and state must carefully examine in their quest to achieve Utopia:
Duality
Justice
Wealth
Moderation
Individual
State
Education
Arts
Imitation
Poverty
Virtue
Ethics
Matrimony
Philosophy
Government
Illusion
Reality
Wrong
Right
Politics
