A note to the reader

Plato’s Visual Utopia was an experiment in combining literature philosophy and visual art. The inspiration came from the famous philosophical dialogue of Plato’s Republic. Also, it is important to note that understanding the Platonic dialogue of the Republic can be difficult for non-philosophers. To that end,  illustrating the text was of paramount importance. My final goal was to produce a visual narrative of the Republic, that would be easier to comprehend when coupled with the written text. This book is the first of its kind in that it illustrates with artworks the written text of the Republic.
